ABOUT ME

I'm Barbara. I'm a Northern transplant to the Big Easy, New Orleans.  I work as a graphic designer for my day job and I tend to bring that sensibility to my papercrafting projects.  

I was introduced to Close to my Heart products by my sister-in-law, Kristina Baldwin - she's the author of the well-regarded SunnyDay Memories. I would receive beautifully designed, gorgeously stamped cards and various papercrafts in the mail.  I started looking forward to getting her envelopes and packages, and finally I asked her where she was getting them from - only to learn she was making them herself!  The next time I was out visiting, Kristina showed me how to make a card and I was hooked.

I'm a beginning scrapbooker, and so far I'm loving it, but I have so much to learn - which is one of the reasons why I'm happy to expand the tutorial sections - I love sharing what I've learned and maybe it'll help you out too.  I started out a few years ago on a Silhouette cutting machine and moved to Cricut.  I love figuring out how to make something work with the cricut and designing custom SVGs.

My husband and I have been married for over ten years, and we recently bought a house in a suburb of New Orleans.  It's really important to me to keep up with my far-flung family, so I started stamping and card creating to keep in touch.  It always feels a little more personal to receive a card or something handmade in the mail!
