Slimline Penguin Card

Slimline cards have made a resurgence and I'm happy that they are back - the 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" cards are a completely difference space and you have to rearrange everything to fit a little differently on them. I love the challenge and how great something can look on them!

I have already professed my love for the penguins, so I stamped and colored my little friend out. CTMH has a new slimline die background that cuts out the diagonal stripes. So I ran it through and cut out a raspberry and a lagoon set for a fun '80s inspired background. I popped the lagoon one on upside down so that the stripes would show through and attached them together. On the raspberry one, I only glued down the outside frame and a couple of the large stripes.

I cut a stitched heart out of White Daisy and a smaller heart from a piece of leftover paper from the Perfect Match paper pack. I attached the smaller heart with a foam tape and threaded through the larger heart so it went under some of the stripes. Then I cut out the large stitched bracket thin cut out of White Daisy for the sentiment. I looked at a bunch of my stamps and I still love a retired sentiment from the Safe At Home Covid stamp set, and I thought it would work perfectly so I used that. CTMH is creating another Quarantine set, so make sure to check that out. I also used some of the doodle borders from the Stamp of the Month set.

Every month Close to my Heart has a special stamp set available, the Stamp of the Month and it's exclusive to that month only. It can be purchased at full retail price $18.95 or at a discount of $5 if you have a qualifying purchase of $50 or more. With the CTMH VIP program, you can get the stamp set free with purchase, so that's pretty neat too - let me know if you are interested in the VIP reward program, I can let you know the details.

For a fun embellishing element, I took the gummy hearts from the Perfect Match set and used those. I used a dot of liquid glue and attached them by my pretty penguin, and on the heart, and in the sentiment. For a fun touch, I took some of the white hearts and smeared them on the raspberry ink pad to transfer some color to them and I used those on the sentiment bracket as well.

I really love the retro vibe and really like how it all came together - "I love it when a plan comes together!" Here's a list of the products used, please do reach out and let me know if you have any questions! Thanks & stay crafty!
